Ingredients

1 large rib-eye steak

(approx 300g)

crushed but whole

2 green peppers

4 hot dog buns

60g smoked cheddar

Season the steak well, then fry it with the garlic in hot oil for 4-5 mins on each side for medium rare. Put the steak on a board to rest and discard the garlic.

step 2

Add the peppers and a pinch of salt to the pan with extra oil if needed and cook for 3-4 mins.

step 3

Heat grill to high. Thinly slice the steak. Fill each bun with a quarter of the steak, peppers and cheese slices. Grill for 2-3 mins, drizzle with mustard and top with onions.

🌭🧀 Cheesesteak Hot Dogs

📝 Ingredients (Makes 4 servings):

🔸 For the Hot Dogs:

4 all-beef hot dogs (or your favorite kind)

4 hot dog buns (preferably soft, bakery-style or hoagie rolls)

🔸 Cheesesteak Topping:

½ lb (225g) thinly sliced steak (ribeye, sirloin, or shaved beef works best)

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional: add red or yellow peppers for color)

1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Salt & pepper, to taste

½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

🔸 Cheese Options:

4 slices provolone cheese (classic and melty)

OR ½ cup Cheese Whiz (for the real Philly feel)

OR shredded mozzarella or white American cheese

🔪 Instructions:

1. Cook the Hot Dogs:

Grill, pan-fry, or boil the hot dogs until heated through and lightly browned.

Toast the buns if desired.

2. Cook the Cheesesteak Topping:

Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Add onions and peppers; sauté for 5–6 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized.

Push veggies to the side, add thin-sliced beef. Cook until just browned (2–3 minutes).

Mix everything together and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Tip: For extra melty cheese, lay cheese slices over the beef and cover with a lid for 1 minute, then stir.

3. Assemble:

Place a cooked hot dog in each bun.

Top generously with cheesesteak mixture.

Drizzle with Cheese Whiz or top with more melted cheese if desired.

🍽️ Serve With:

Crinkle fries or onion rings

Pickles or coleslaw

Ice-cold soda or beer (for adults)

🔄 Variations:

Use chopped mushrooms for a mushroom cheesesteak version.

Make it spicy: add jalapeños or hot sauce to the beef mix.

Swap hot dogs for bratwurst or sausages for a gourmet twist.
